Here is my weekly progress for the magazine project
Reflection:
This weekly progress has helped me to organize on my priorities which helped me to complete my tasks on weekly basis. It serves as a personal accountability tool, encourages me to reflect on my achievements, pinpoint areas that need improvement, and set realistic goals. This reflective process not only deepens my understanding of the tasks but also enhances my ability to think critically. Moreover, I think this weekly progress is a lifesaver! when it comes to managing my time as knowing myself i am a person that tends to forget my to do list therefore having a structured report of progress do really really helps and benefit me to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. This is also my last media study class for semester 1, and I am going to have a semestral holiday. During this semestral holiday I am going to be finishing all of my to do list from week 7 and go on a location scout for my magazine project.
Week 1:
- Magazine terminologies, I find it quite interesting but the terms used in magazine is pretty hard to remember and I needed time to identify and understand their purposes.
- Teacher introduce us to our brief, I also learn to label the front cover of magazine.
Week 2:
- We started to learn the representation theory by Stuart Hall and I think it is very interesting and I enjoyed this theory the most.
- I finished my front cover magazine label, I think it is quite challenging.
- I started my research and I think it is one of the hardest part to analyze and to critically think what is affecting something and how does it suggest meaning to the readers.
Week 3:
- This week I analyzed two front cover in detail, I think it was quite difficult to identify which is which and to know what are they purpose.
- Started a mini analysis of double page spread.
- Started a mini analysis of double page spread.
Problems: I'm not sure who is my secondary target aim for my magazine project.
Solution: I am going to do further research in my free time to identify it.
To do list: Finish statement of intent, and also research before Friday.
I decided to change my structure of weekly progress to be more reflective.
Week 4:
- I learned about genre theory and I know that demographic and psychographic is really related to target audiences. From genre theory I am able to specify more on my target audiences and use it to research on my magazine project.
- Problems: Still need to edit my statement of intent, and I couldn't get it on my blog
- Solution: I will revisit my blog later to revise and edit
- To do list: I will need to start researching on my magazine and finish up my magazines development slides, I also will need to start deciding who I will feature as celebrity in my magazine.
Week 5:
- Problems: I need to memorize magazines terminology so that it is easier for me to identify parts of magazine, moreover, my text in the double page research is not really organized and messy.
- Solution: I need to review magazines terminology organize my research.
- To do list:
a) I still need to finished my double page spread research and development
b) I need to find one more fashion magazine to compare and do some research, find out how to embed a PDF.
Week 6:
- This week I finished my double page spread research and development which helps me further analyze my magazine article first draft.
- Problems: Time management as I am having a hectic week and I think I still need to go back to my double page spread research.
- Solution: Prioritize and do it in my free time
- To do list: Research more on what to include in my fashion magazine and how to make it as engaging as well as how to create a good article.
Week 7:
- This is my final week of the term, I check listed all of the things I have done and I haven't done. I'm going to continue it on my holiday and get everything on my blog.
- Problems: I haven't got enough reflection and I haven't finish my 700 words article which I should get done.
- Solution: Get things done during the holiday and more research on the article.
- To do list: Location scout and take 10 pictures for my magazine, check all of my list on my check list.
Semester 2
Week 1:
- This is my first week of semester 2, this week I got a feedback from my teacher about my magazine project saying that I need to put more into details especially about the demographics of the audience. Moreover, I also did my location scout and risk assessment.
- Problems: No problem yet as it is just the first week, but I needed to make a timeline for the photoshoot.

Week 2:
Today I had my magazine project lesson, I experimented a lot on magazine layout and also create some on my own. My teacher also give time for me to take photos and give me time to try to design the magazine layout.
- To do list: make the magazine border on canva.
- Problems: I encountered some problems, firstly, google draw doesn't really help me on having accurate size of the borders size and during the photoshoot trial lighting has come to a problem.
- Photoshoot schedule:
21st January: Going to the location and have the 1st trial
by 23rd January finished with the photo
Week 3
I experimented with typeface for my magazine project that I made on canva. I also experimented with the color schemes as well as finding the right title for my magazine.
- To do list: photoshoot for magazine deadline: before next week, create one more draft layouts for contents page.
- Problems: I have difficulties to choose fonts and need to research more front my front coverline.
Week 4
I had my magazine project today, I started my critical self reflection for my magazine. I have chosen the design for my presentation and manage to finish answering some questions.
- To do list: Finishing my self reflection, editing photos that I took for my magazine.
- Problems: I dont understand some questions in my critical self reflection
- Solution: Research and look for my old one
Week 5
I had my magazine project today, I started making my front page cover and experimented a lot with it. I played with different typeface, coverlines.
- To do list: I need to experiment with different colors with my cover line and also add some
- Problems: I couldn't figured out which cover front page to use for my magazine.
- Solution: Do it on my free time
Week 6:
This week I've started my front cover page and I have been compiling all of my research and deciding which one is the best for my magazine. I also did my double page spread research and have been going back to my article draft that I made during Christmas holiday.
- To do list: Contents page, research and development and also double page spread.
- Problems: There is a ceremony going on in front of my school so my class lesson is being cut an hour
- Solution: I will make this as my homework and get it done as soon as I get home.
Week 11:
After my first submission, I get feedbacks from my teacher saying that my double page spread and contents page does not look like a real magazine and it needs to be more structured and neat. I experimented with other structures and also fixed my margins.
- To do list: researching layout for contents page, organizing text for double page spread
- Problems: limited time as I need to also organize my blog as soon as possible
- Solution: sacrifice free time and fix my blog
